“People do not have to become something they are not. They need to learn only who and what they really are.”
Eknath
Easwaran
“Go
to the people, live with them, love them, learn from them, work with
them, start from what they have, build on what they know, and in the
end, when the work is done, the people will rejoice and say: We have
done it ourselves.”

Life
Coaching is a relatively new hybrid helping profession that focuses on
client-centered personal empowerment. The Life Coach is not a
consultant nor therapist, friend nor clergy, parent nor police.
Life Coaching assists clients in recognizing their dreams and putting
into action the steps that will take them on their journey of success.
The exquisite Life Coach will remember the Truth of who you are, even
when you forget and happily will remind you of your brilliance as many
times as you need to be reminded.
“There is pain in change and there is pain in staying the same.
Pick the one that moves you forward."
Motto of The Nob Hill Wellness Center
“Kris
has been an inspiration to me in that her approach to life has always
been to not take things too seriously. She has the most honest
and sincere eyes that I have ever looked into and felt comforted
by. She has the ability to make light of things when they seem
heavy and overwhelming. She is great at being persistent about
self-work and she’s willing to take the extra step to assist people in
their journey.”

My commitment to you...
- As
your Life Coach, I am committed to you – your dreams, your healing,
your path that is calling you to become on the outside the greatness
that is already you on the inside.
- As
your Life Coach, I begin our relationship with the assumption that you
are a good person, with a good heart, and with right intention.
You are someone who only wants to love and be loved. Most
importantly, I want you to know that I believe that there is nothing wrong with you and that you are fine just the way you are.
- As your Life Coach, I will listen to you. I will listen – slowly and carefully to you.
I will listen for your magnificence. And I will believe you. My
intention is to coach to the soul, not to the symptoms and certainly
not to the “diagnosis.”
- As
your Life Coach, I don’t want you to reflect on our session later and
say, “Wow, my Life Coach is brilliant!” I want you to reflect on
our session later and say, “Wow, I am brilliant!”
- As
your Life Coach, I will spend time every day thinking about you.
I will hold you in my consciousness with loving intention, inviting
insight as to how my gifts may be used for your highest good.
- As your Life Coach, my goal for you is threefold: to be awake, to be free, and to be alive.

Kris’ Philosophy of Life Coaching
As
I reflect on what I believe today about why we are the way we are, I am
reminded of a paper that I wrote in graduate school. All graduate
students in Counseling Psychology take a class called Theories of Counseling.
It covers all the major recognized theoretical orientations toward
psychotherapy. The standard assignment that is due at the end of this
course is to write one’s own theory of counseling. Twenty-five
years later, I don’t think my paper would be much different; it would
just be longer. I’ve learned that we are much more than our
childhood traumas, unconscious conflicts, dysfunctional parenting
influences, genetic make-up, behavioral reinforcement, or cognitive
distortions.
Today, I have
respect for all of these influences, and I choose to approach my work
with clients from a more positive framework, and less from what is
called the Medical Model. Therapists refer to the patient’s
“presenting problem” which leads to a “diagnosis” and then the
“treatment plan” is formulated. All of this is fine and good for
the “patient” who truly needs psychotherapy. I did it for years
and will always be grateful for the honor and privilege it was to be
someone’s therapist – to help people with deep family-of-origin issues
in order to arrive at a more functional level of living.
Now,
in my own evolving, I find that what seems to be “right” for me, is to
work with people who are already at this functional level and who want
to move even further along their path to joy, freedom, abundance and
love. I can recognize people who need psychotherapy and will
gladly refer them to colleagues for this essential foundational
work. And, I will welcome them back with open arms if they choose
to work with me at the next level.
I
also recognized that I was spending a lot of time in therapy sessions
essentially explaining and teaching clients about family systems
theory, defense mechanisms, learned patterns, the importance of
spirituality, the role and power of the unconscious, codependency,
etc… These monologues often came to a close with a resounding
motivational pep talk of sorts. I remember one time finishing a session
with a client at the door with the joyous exhortation, “Now, go out
there and make me proud!” We laughed ourselves silly. So, I
took this as a message from my Higher Self and decided to bring my
professional identity and focus in alignment with what my behavior and
passionate feelings were telling me.
So
now I am a Life Coach. I love doing workshop presentations,
motivational speaking, teaching Psychology at the community college,
and working one-on-one with clients, incorporating the mysteries of
Energy Psychology. As an Energy Practitioner, I have to confess,
the rapid results of this approach still astound me. When I was
first learning EFT, I practiced on whoever was willing to give it a
try. I’m not kidding (see, I’m still amazed!), we got practically
instant relief for knee pain, sinus headache, hives, test anxiety, back
pain, stomach upset, phobias, and even traumatic war memories. And
remember, I’m an academic type with a Ph.D. background, which means I
was taught to worship at the altar of the scientific method and judge
as folly any “unproven” methodology. Well, I am wise enough now to know
“results is results.” Thank goodness the first Stone Age person
who discovered fire didn’t abandon the practice just because the exact
cause, theory, mechanism, and outcome couldn’t be controlled nor
quantified.
“I’d like to share an
experience I had with Kris and the EFT technique she used with
me. I had very painful stomach cramps that could not be
attributed to anything at the time. Kris offered to try EFT with
me, and I gladly accepted. She demonstrated the meridian points
to work on, and had me repeat the affirmations that went along with
them. We worked together for about ten minutes, after which I
amazingly felt my stomach pain disappear. I really feel that the
EFT worked to ease my stomach pain like nothing else could and I was
very grateful to Kris for offering to try this with me.”
